Erie United Methodist Alliance (EUMA) will be celebrating the 14th season of Our Neighbors’ Place (ONP) the Seasonal Overflow Shelter with a special event showing appreciation for the volunteers.
The event will be held on May 22 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will share the stories of 15 individuals who were able to move from homeless to home while staying at ONP while celebrating the volunteers who helped make this happen.
During the winter season Our Neighbors’ Place is a resource for those in the Erie community experiencing housing crises by providing warmth, safety, and compassionate care. The shelter provides access to nightly meals, showers, and safe sleeping spaces.
For 126 nights the shelter offered safe spaces for 328 homeless neighbors with a total of 6,782 bed nights. Each night the average guests was 54. For 29 nights the ONP sheltered over 60 guests.
