MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — He’s considered the number one prospect in the New York Yankees organization. He’s now a triple A with Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders as George Lombard Junior is welcomed to Scranton. I know you’ve been here a couple of weeks, but you’ve gone through the cycle you have been e been in A ball Double-A and now up at AAA. How do you like this atmosphere here? And what is it like being in AAA.
“ It’s been cool. Well, thanks for having me on. And yeah, it’s been ever since I’ve gotten here. Just I think the biggest difference is just getting to be around more experienced guys. A group of guys that has been around the block a little bit longer, guys with time in the big leagues, guys with just more experience in this process.
So yeah, getting to be around them, getting to pick their brains and it’s been fun.
You’re a mature 20 year old though. You grew up around baseball with your father, who was a major League Baseball player. Now is a third base coach right up in Detroit, right?
“ Yeah, he’s bench coach with Detroit. And yeah, it’s been I mean, ever since I can remember, been somewhere on baseball, whether it was him coaching, him playing.
So yeah, it’s I’m always in part of my life and he’s been he’s been a great help for me.
Ide asks, What did you learn about being a professional baseball player growing up around it?
“ A lot of things. I think the biggest thing is just like the overall lifestyle, what it takes to in and day out.
The length of everything. Long season, long training days. The amount of time and effort and work that it takes to be to maintain yourself and to stay at the highest level. Because that’s, I think, the biggest difference with the guys up there. You know, there’s a lot of guys that make it, but staying there and being a long time elite player is the tough part.
So yeah, just the overall grind of it.
Did you always want to be a professional baseball player? I mean, people, kids grow up with their fathers that they always want to do what they do. But you grew up around it. Is this something you always wanted to be?
“ Yeah. I mean, ever since I can remember, it’s. It was.
I played a bunch of sports, but always my favorite was baseball was weird, Everything going on in life just got puts the side when I was on the baseball field and it was always my comfort place. So yeah, for sure. You mentioned other sports.
You mentioned other sports. Soccer player you want to state title in baseball and soccer. How much do you keep with soccer?
“ I mean, I love it. I get out there and kick the soccer ball or I can play a lot of FIFA. But yeah, I, like you said I played soccer all the way through high school as well. And it’s another sport that I loved.
Right here on Fox 56, we have the FIFA World Cup coming to United States of America.
What do you think about that? Well, how much are you going to pay attention the best you can, playing baseball as well. ?
“ Oh, I’m going to be locked in. I’m really excited for it. I still remember watching my senior year of high school was the last one. And yeah, I still remember watching all those matches and being locked into that one. So yeah, I’m really excited for it. “
