SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A Scranton man has been found guilty on federal drug trafficking and weapons charges following a three-day trial in federal court.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a jury convicted 48-year-old Keith Fox Jr. on May 20 of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
According to prosecutors, law enforcement agencies spent several months investigating Fox before executing a search warrant at his Scranton home on Aug. 22, 2024.
During the search, investigators discovered what authorities described as an illicit pill-manufacturing operation inside the residence.
Agents seized an automated pill press along with other equipment allegedly used to produce illegal pills. Investigators also recovered more than 1,000 pills containing methamphetamine and other controlled substances, methamphetamine powder, a large quantity of ammunition and three handguns.
Federal prosecutors said one of the firearms had an obliterated serial number.
Authorities said Fox was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition because of a prior felony conviction.
Fox now faces a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 14 before U.S. District Judge Joseph Saporito Jr.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Narcotics Investigations and the Pennsylvania State Police.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts and Senior Deputy Assistant Attorney General Michelle Hardik prosecuted the case.
