DELMAR — The chemistry between Bethlehem boys’ lacrosse teammates Vin Foro and Luke Johnson has paid off for the Eagles throughout the season. On Saturday, the duo once again showed the dazzling results of all the work they’ve put in together.
On an overcast and windy afternoon, Foro and Johnson were on fire early and often as the pair scored all six of Bethlehem’s first-half goals and staked the Eagles to a three-goal halftime lead. Eventually, Bethlehem pulled away even more for a 13-5 home win over Queensbury in the Section 2 Class B quarterfinals.
No. 3 seed Bethlehem never trailed. The Eagles took the lead for good when Johnson scored to make it 2-1 in the first quarter.
“One of our mottos this time of the year is one, we want to be one of the last teams practicing out in the field until the end of the season,” Bethlehem coach Dave Rounds said. “We have to earn our right to keep our uniforms another day and I think we did that today.”
Foro scored six goals, four of them in the first half, with Johnson providing the assist on three of those first-half goals. Johnson, a junior co-captain, finished the game with three goals and six assists.
Finn Conway had a pair of third-quarter goals for Bethlehem, and Liam Barra and Petey Vottis added fourth-quarter goals.
