VERMILLION, Ohio (WOIO) – Vermillion police found an abandoned barge floating in Lake Erie Sunday.
Police say the barge is 35 feet long and was floating a quarter mile west of the Vermillion River.

The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were notified.
The owner of the barge has come forward and will secure it.
The Erie County sheriff provided an update stating the barge is near Sherod Park.
It’s uncertain whether the barge will be removed Sunday, so the Coast Guard is placing lights around it to help boaters see it.
Vermillion police advise boaters to exercise caution around the vessel until it’s removed.
