Erie residents are invited to roll out their yoga mats and welcome the day with a peaceful stretch along the Bayfront as Sunrise Yoga at Dobbins Landing returns for the 2026 season.
Sunrise Yoga is a partnership between Erie Downtown Partnership and Ascent Erie and remains free and open to the public.
The free community event kicks off May 27 at 6 a.m. and will continue every Wednesday morning through the last Wednesday before Labor Day. Open to all ages and experience levels, Sunrise Yoga offers participants a chance to enjoy scenic waterfront views while focusing on both physical and mental well-being.
From gentle stretching to mindfulness practices, the sessions are designed to promote overall health, reduce stress, and create a calming start to the day. Organizers say events like Sunrise Yoga encourage people to reconnect not only with nature but also with fellow community members.
In today’s fast-paced world, many have turned to yoga as a way to slow down and reset. Through guided poses and breathing techniques, participants can experience improved focus, reduced stress, and a sense of balance that can be difficult to find in everyday life.
The one-hour class is led by instructor Chelsea McQuaid, who will guide participants through beginner-friendly yoga routines. Modifications are provided throughout the session to ensure accessibility for all skill levels, whether attendees are new to yoga or more experienced.
Participants are encouraged to simply show up with a yoga mat or beach towel and be ready to start the day refreshed and energized.
