A 20-year-old is in critical condition after he fell off a moving vehicle last week in Bethlehem Township.

Township police Chief Greg Gottschall said the man was riding on the trunk of a vehicle about 5:50 p.m. Friday at the Madison Farms Shopping Center off  Freemansburg Avenue. The vehicle was traveling from the west part of the shopping center to the east part, and the man fell off the vehicle as it crossed over Madison Boulevard to enter the shopping center’s east entrance, according to the chief.

Police found the man laying on the road, bleeding from the head. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus for treatment. The driver of the vehicle fled before police arrived, however Gottschall said they returned while police were investigating.

The incident remains under investigation. The chief said Wednesday that the man was in critical condition at the hospital.
