Police said an investigation is underway following a shooting that injured two men in Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, officers responded to the 600 block of West Tusculum Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers got to the scene, Small said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso and lower extremities, bleeding on the sidewalk. The man, possibly in his 20s, was taken to a nearby hospital and placed in critical condition.
Small said a second victim, a man also in his 20’s, had been dropped off at the same hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso. He is in critical condition.
At the scene, Small said a handgun was found next to the first victim along with 13 shell casings. The private vehicle that had taken the second victim to the hospital also had a gun inside.
At this time, it is unclear if the weapons found were used in the shooting.
Small said he hopes that surveillance cameras in the area help them with the investigation.
