Jeff Glazier, Allentown’s city controller for over a decade, died Tuesday night, according to the city.
Spokesperson Michaela Boyer confirmed his death Wednesday, and said Mayor Matt Tuerk has ordered Allentown flags on city property to fly at half-staff to honor his loss. Additional information is expected to be released later Wednesday.

Glazier was appointed to the position as the city’s financial watchdog in 2016, and re-elected three times. Prior to his appointment, Glazier was a City Council member and a former member of the Allentown School Board. He operated the family business, Glazier’s Furniture, until 2017, when it closed, according to his profile on the city’s website.
“Under his stewardship the office has worked to increase transparency, institute process flow audits, and monitor city unclaimed property,” his profile states. As controller, Glazier also created a portal on the city’s website for people to view city contracts and audits.
He was on the school board from 1999 until 2012, and was a council member from 2012 until 2016.
