CATASAUQUA, Pa. – Officials in Catasauqua say that a sinkhole that opened in the borough is expected to be fully repaired by the end of the day on Thursday.
The sinkhole opened along Race Street. The street is currently open to one-lane traffic, according to officials.

Borough officials say that work began around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Drivers are strongly urged to avoid Race Street between 10th and 14th streets and use alternate routes while repairs are underway.

The borough also notes that additional parking restrictions and temporary street postings may be implemented on nearby side streets to maintain traffic flow and ensure access for emergency vehicles and repair crews. Officials say they are working to minimize the impact on residents.
