READING, Pa. — Some major upgrades to enhance the viewing experience at the IMAX in Reading were celebrated Thursday with a ribbon cutting.
“I come in and I see that massive 70 ft wide, 40 ft tall screen sitting there smiling at me and I go wow,” says R/C Theatres President & CEO, Scott Cohen.
The owners say the upgrades to the IMAX are bringing the entertainment experience to a whole new level.
“We’re also calling it ‘Reimagined IMAX Extraordinary Awaits’,” says Shelbi Gutowski with R/C Theatres.
The changes will produce a crystal-clear picture that is three times brighter, and immersive sound; not to mention the heated recliners.
“This is the demand of the public,” says Cohen. “They want these amenities that we’re installing here and we want people to come back downtown.”
“This specific theater has a special place in my heart because as they were opening up, I was relocating my family to the city of Reading in 2008,” says Reading Mayor Eddie Moran. “I spent many weekends coming here because it was a great entertainment and a reasonable entertainment for me and my twin boys.”
The theater has embraced being a part of the Reading community.
“We’re keeping our ticket pricing as is,” says Gutowski. “Very competitive with our ticket pricing, very conscious of the economy.”
The other auditoriums will also be upgraded to include the heated recliners throughout the summer and fall.
