Upper Darby police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating one suspect and identifying another who took part in a brutal eight-minute beating of a victim on Thursday morning in 69th Street.

One suspect, Remari Bradley, 21, is in custody and a warrant has been issued for the second suspect, Amier Peterson, 18, as police also try to identify a third suspect seen in the video.

That individual has dreadlocks and very distinctive clothing.

The incident occurred about 2 a.m. on Oct. 9 in the parking of the Lukoil at 69th Street and Marshall Road.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by detective Michael Ficchi:

Officers were called to the gas station for an assault.

Police arrived to find a male victim unconscious with strained breathing, swelling to both eye sockets and a wound to the rear ofhis head. He was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center.

A witness told police a group of males and females, dressed mostly in black, assaulted the victim, kicking and punching him, and they then fled toward the 400 block of Timberlake Road.

Officers began to check the area for any persons possibly involved, and Officer Adam Wheatley conducted a pedestrian stop on one male, later identified as Bradley, who was wearing a gray and black pullover jacket and a black ski mask.

Officer Ostap Royik located Peterson, who lives a few blocks away, wearing a black and white New Balance jacket, black pants and gray sneakers in the area of Timberlake Road and Ruskin Lane.

A witness was brought to the scene but was unable to identify either at that time, and the pair were released.

At the emergency room, detectives attempted to speak with the victim however he had severe swelling of the brain and bleeding to his head and face and was unable to provide a statement.

Surveillance footage was obtained that captured the entirety of the assault. Police said it showed Peterson throwing the victim on the ground out front of the store and then punching and repeatedly hitting him in the head, face and body until the victim goes unconscious.

Even after the victim was unconscious, Peterson is seen stomping on his head.

Bradley is observed joining in the assault, punching and kicking the victim in the head. Police said the assault lasted nearly eight minutes before the group of six, including Bradley and Peterson, fled toward Timberlake Road.

Police said they were able to positively identify Bradley and Peterson through comparison of the clothing worn during the assault, the body worn camera footage worn by the patrol officers who conducted pedestrian stops on both Bradley and Peterson, and Ficchi’s familiarity with both males from prior investigations.

Bradley was arraigned before District Judge George B. Dawson, who set bail at 10 percent of $100,000, which Bradley has not posted. He is at Delaware County prison awaiting an Oct. 20 preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Harry J. Karapalides.

Police are still searching for Peterson and the unidentified subject, and Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt urged anyone with information about them to contact police at 610-734-7693 or via social media. Witnesses or anyone with video footage are also asked to come forward.

“This assault is utterly unacceptable,” said Bernhardt. “These cowardly actions, attacking a defenseless person for amusement or any reason, are disgraceful. Anyone who thinks this behavior is ‘cool’ or shows toughness is gravely mistaken. All involved will face criminal charges, and the District Attorney’s Office will ensure justice is served.”
