COOPERSBURG, Pa. — A Lehigh County man was sentenced to state prison on Friday after pleading guilty to distributing images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.
Cody Aaron Smith, 32, of Coopersburg, was sentenced to 10 to 30 years in state prison and was also determined to be a sexually-violent predator, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
Smith pleaded guilty in September to four felony charges of Disseminating Photo/Film of Child Sex Acts, according to court paperwork.
Police received several tips on various dates in 2024 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Child Sex Abuse Material being distributed, officials said.
The investigation was extensive and included multiple subpoenas and search warrants as well as interviews and two electronic device extractions, according to authorities.
Officials say the investigation revealed Smith was responsible for disseminating and possessing more than 1,600 Child Sex Abuse Material files.
Smith used Kik, a free instant messaging app, to share videos and images of adults performing sexual acts upon infants and toddler children, according to the DA’s office.
This case was investigated by Upper Saucon Township Detective Dane Carroll and was prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Sarah K. Heimbach.
