New Flock cameras near the Millcreek Mall helped police locate a stolen van and identify a suspect in a case that later led to a pursuit through Erie County earlier this month, according to a news release posted Saturday.
Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were assisting the Conneaut Police Department on May 11 in the search for a stolen 2013 Chevrolet Astro van. The van had been stolen the day before.
Investigators used the Flock cameras at the Millcreek Mall to help find the van, which was located unoccupied behind the TownPlace Suites by Marriott near the mall, according to investigators.
Police said the cameras also helped identify a suspect. That investigation later led to a multi-department high-speed pursuit through Erie County and the arrest of Joseph Arciuolo, 39, of Erie.
State police said Arciuolo is accused of stealing more than five vehicles, breaking into multiple vehicles and stealing items from inside, and burglarizing sheds and other structures.
Charges filed by State Police in Girard include receiving stolen property and multiple counts of fleeing and eluding. Troopers from the Erie station also filed multiple counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
Arciuolo remains behind bars in the Erie County Prison.
