MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Sunday afternoon, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders closed out their home stand against the Worcester Red Sox with a 1-0 win.
The Railriders got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning as Yankees #1 prospect George Lombard Jr. hit a solo home run to deep right field – his second homer of the season. This would be the only run of the ball game on Sunday.
Railriders pitcher Adam Kloffenstein was the star on the mound all afternoon. Kloffenstein threw 6.0 scoreless innings, allowed just three hits, and recorded 10 strikeouts – a season best.
The Railriders will now hit the road to face the Syracuse Mets for a six-game mini subway series. Game One will take place on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse.
