12 Days Until Big Boy 4014: Bigger Than Most People Imagine

FOX56 Countdown to Big Boy

Big Boy 4014 arrives at Steamtown in Scranton on June 13. Each day until then, we’re sharing a fascinating fact about the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.

Locomotive 4014 stretches 133 feet long and weighs approximately 1.2 million pounds.

To put that into perspective, it’s longer than three school buses parked end-to-end and outweighs many commercial aircraft.
