OBITUARY
Marita Ann Gildea, 69, formerly of Archbald, passed away on May 23, 2026, at Dunmore Health Care Center. Born on September 17, 1956, Marita was the daughter of the late Frank and Rita Gildea. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Frank (Joyce), Kathleen, and Larry.
Marita is survived by her sister-in-law, Anne; her nephews and nieces, Katie Estridge (Bret), Patrick Gildea (Lindsay), PJ Anthony (Rob), and Randy Chendemi (Kim); several great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved cousins from Delaware, Sue MacCord, Franny Blake, and Maureen Giansanti (Louie).
Marita earned her Associate’s degree from Keystone College and enjoyed a long, dedicated career as an administrative assistant with New York Life. She shared a very close bond with her mother and served as her devoted caregiver at the end of her life. Marita also cherished visiting her family in North Carolina for holidays and special occasions. In her younger years, she was an avid tennis player and always enjoyed going on cruises with her friends and family.
The memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Marita’s memory by performing an unexpected act of kindness to brighten someone’s day.
