The Japanese-themed Okatshe restaurant opened Oct. 1 at 947 W. Hamilton St. in Allentown. It offers sushi, sashimi, pork bao buns, takoyaki, broiled scallops, dumplings, cocktails and Japanese whiskey.
Paradise Kafé held grand opening Oct. 1 at 552 N. New St. in Bethlehem, where it serves coffee, lattes, tea, baklava, knafeh and croissants.
The thrift store This, That & The Third Shop opened Oct. 1 at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township.
The Juice Pod opened Oct. 1 at the Marshall Valley building at 117 E. Fourth St. in Bethlehem, where it offers smoothies, juices, bowls, salads and wraps.
Whitehall Coin & Jewelry opened Oct. 6 at the MacArthur Center at 3690 Lehigh St. in Whitehall Township.
Drink Fresh by Djurdjura opened Oct. 8 at Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township, where it offers smoothies, juices, acai bowls, Dubai chocolate bowls and cups.
Pearly Baker’s Alehouse held a grand reopening under new owners Oct. 11 at 11 Centre Square in Easton.
The Unwine Vineyards wine bar and art emporium opened Oct. 17 at 309 E. Third St. in Bethlehem.
The outdoor design company G Outdoor Living & Design held a grand opening for its new showroom Oct. 18 at 1036 N. Irving St. in Allentown.
Paranormal Pizza reopened Oct. 25 at 125 E. Third St. in Bethlehem.
The fried chicken restaurant Equis Pica Pollo opened Oct. 25 at 513 N. Seventh St. in Allentown.
Bang Bang Hibachi Grill & Sushi reopened Oct. 26 at 6900 Hamilton Blvd. in Lower Macungie Township.
Marco’s Pizza opened Oct. 27 at 2588 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township, where it serves pizza, sandwiches, salads, wings and desserts.
The sunglasses store Sunglass Hut opened at Promenade Saucon Valley in Upper Saucon Township.
CLOSURES:
Handmade Mystic closed Oct. 19 at 2180 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township.
Dino Sweets closed at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township.
3 Broke Blokes Grille closed at Lost Tavern Brewing’s taproom at 444 Main St. in Bethlehem.
The drug store chain Rite Aid closed all of its remaining locations nationwide.

OPENINGS:
Marcy’s Hamburgers held a soft opening Sept. 3 at 77 N. Fourth St. in Easton. The menu includes burgers, wings, empanadas, sandwiches, salads and in-house mozzarella.
Chipotle Mexican Grill opened a new restaurant on Sept. 3 at 2445 Butler St. in Wilson.
Amigos Mexican Grill held a grand opening Sept. 4 at its new location on the ground level of The Marquis apartments at 27 S. Third St. in Easton, where it serves tacos, burritos, bowls and quesadillas.
AEC Market opened Sept. 6 at 2374 Seiptstown Road in Weisenberg Township, where customers can buy meat, dairy, produce, sourdough bread, muffins, croissants, pasta, snacks, soups, salads and wraps.
AG Yoga & Spin Lab held grand opening event on Sept. 11 at 623 E. Broad Street in Bethlehem.
The Barbecue Boys opened Sept. 16 at 306 S. New St. in Bethlehem. It offers smoked meats, sandwiches, burgers, and macaroni and cheese
Fairouz Restaurant opened Sept. 18 at 1916 Hanover Ave. in Allentown. It offers hummus, baba ganoush, muhammara, falafel, shawarma, burgers, kabobs, eggplant dip, wraps, platters and loaded fries.
Ideal Food Basket opened Sept. 19 at 901 Northampton St. in Easton.
Maracas Dominican Restaurant opened Sept. 20 at 665 Northampton St. in Easton, where it offers chicken with rice and beans, sancocho, mofongo, mangú, juices, a bring-your-own-beer policy, catering and private events.
The hotel Towneplace Suites by Marriott held a grand opening and ribbon cutting Sept. 24 at 5828 Memorial Road in Upper Macungie Township.
The nail salon Ace Nail held a grand opening Sept. 26 at 1521 Easton Ave. in Bethlehem.
The painting and event studio Whoodle Works Studio opened Sept. 27 at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township.
The national sandwich chain Jimmy John’s opened a new location at the Schoenersville Centre at 3219-A Schoenersville Road in Bethlehem.
CLOSURES:
Black River Wine Bar closed Sept. 21 at the Trolley Barn Public Market in Quakertown.
Maingate Nightclub will remain permanently closed at 448 N. 17th St. in Allentown, according to a Sept. 22 announcement.
Breakfast on Broadway announced its closure Sept. 24 at 15 Broadway in Bangor.
Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant has closed all of its locations in the country, as of a Sept. 25 announcement, including at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township.
The hot dog vendor Rod’s Dogs closed Sept. 28 at the Easton Public Market in Easton.
