WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – During their workshop meeting Monday night, Whitehall Township commissioners discussed two resolutions and whether it would be in the township’s best interest to sell property.
One property involves 43 acres at 2655 Range Road, which is vacant and undeveloped land currently. The land is along Eberhart Road and Range Road and include the Cameron Tract, the former Whitehall Golf Center and other specific contiguous parcels.
Commissioner Ken Snyder said selling the property would potentially provide “value” to the township. Monday night’s bill would begin the process to discover the property’s value in the market.
Whatever the value, two commissioners — President Jeffrey Warren and Taylor Stakes — said selling the property would be not be worth it. Warren said it would be akin to “selling our soul,” while Stakes said the township needed an updated comprehensive plan before commissioners could entertain the thought.
The second involved property is located at 3561 W. Columbia St. It also was met with intense debate, with commissioners sometimes talking over each other, creating a din of noise about the pros and cons with no resolution.
The next regular meeting of the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners is June 8 at 7 p.m.
