Erie County Executive Brenton Davis called a news conference on Thursday explaining his concerns about County Council wanting a tax increase.

Erie County Executive Brenton Davis held a news conference raising concerns about Erie County Council considering a tax increase, but Erie County Council Finance Chairman Rock Copeland said Council has yet to even deliberate on a potential tax hike.

Last year, Council approved a 0.51-mill tax increase in the budget raising it to 7.12.

Davis argues that because he vetoed that increase, the rate is still currently 6.61.

That matter is still being decided in court.
