Ruling issued in Oley vehicle fire death

The Berks County Coroner’s Office has issued a ruling on a death discovered after a May 26 Oley Township vehicle fire.

A 69-year-old Oley Township man was found dead after the fire at 9:43 a.m. in the 4000 block of Friedensburg Road. The body was discovered after the fire was extinguished.

Further information on the victim’s identity was not available.

Following an autopsy, the cause of death was determined to be thermal burns and smoke inhalation, and the manner of death was ruled suicide.

The Central Berks Police Department, state police fire marshal and Oley Fire Company also responded to the scene.
