The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders allowed three runs in the ninth inning, but held on for a 6-5 victory over the Syracuse Mets on Tuesday at NBT Bank Stadium.
An Oswaldo Cabrera sacrifice fly gave the RailRiders (29-27) a 6-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning.
Carson Coleman came on in relief in the bottom of the ninth, and got Andy Ibanez to ground out and Cristian Pache to strike out with Ji Hwan Bae working a walk in between.
Then, Jackson Cluff singled to cut the Syracuse (29-28) deficit to 6-3, and Matt Rudick walked before Rafael Montero replaced Coleman.
Nick Morabito reached on a catcher’s interference to load the bases, and Yonny Hernandez scored two runs with a single to center to cut the deficit to 6-5.
However, Montero got Kevin Parada to fly out to left to end the game.
