The crash happened at Bristol Road and Chestnut Avenue in Bensalem Township around 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, according to police.

The driver of a Toyota RAV4 was found dead at the scene and has not yet been identified, authorities said.

Investigators said the crash followed a domestic-related incident in Lower Southampton Township. The driver fled that scene at a high rate of speed on Bristol Road, 6abc Action News reported.

The Toyota driver crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to pass another vehicle and collided with a Hyundai Kona, according to investigators.

The Toyota then became airborne before striking a Honda SUV and a Ford pickup truck, police said.

Photos from the crash show a white SUV overturned on its roof as emergency responders worked in the area.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone else involved in the crash was injured.

Lower Southampton Fire Department No. 1 said its rescue and special services crews assisted Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department Station 4 and Bensalem Township Fire Rescue Department at the scene.

At 6:48 p.m., Lower Southampton Township announced Bristol Road was closed between Brownsville Road and Old Lincoln Highway due to an accident investigation and was expected to remain shut down for several hours.

Tuesday marked a deadly day on Bucks County roadways. The Bristol Road crash came just hours after a separate fatal crash investigation shut down County Line Road and Delmont Avenue in Warminster, as Daily Voice reported.

The identity of the person who died has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation by Bensalem police.
