(WJET/WFXP)– The Erie man who pleaded guilty to making and possessing bath salts at a City of Erie home in 2025 is facing a new drug-related case just weeks before his sentencing.
Millcreek police filed new criminal charges against 40-year-old Adam Hilyer on May 29, saying lab equipment suspected to be used to make more of the drug was found at a Wattburg area home and was turned over to them.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators were called out to the Wattsburg area home on May 29, where they were given a bag filled with broken lab equipment that still had residue to make bath salts on it and other ingredients.
A warrant was issued later that day and court documents show Hilyer was booked into the Erie County Prison on June 1 for felony possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and misdemeanor intentionally possessing a controlled substance without a prescription.
Assistant District Attorney Tayler Moses told us his bond was revoked during a hearing on June 3 before Judge John Mead.
Hilyer was arrested on March 10, 2025, following a search warrant at a City of Erie home on Grove Street, where police said they found a lab to make bath salts and large amounts of the drug in different stages of production, scales, packaging materials and three firearms, one of which was allegedly stolen.

On May 1, Hilyer pleaded guilty to six felony charges in that case; two of which were drug-related, three gun charges and one for receiving stolen property.
With that guilty plea, prosecutors agreed not to pursue felony charges, including risking catastrophe, possession with intent to manufacture and criminal use of a communication facility, along with four misdemeanor charges.
His sentencing for the 2025 case is set for June 26.
