Two events are scheduled for downtown Reading on Friday.
The day begins with the annual World War II Mid-Day Parade in the 500 block of Penn Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The parade, presented by Downtown Reading and the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, kicks off the 35th Annual World War II Weekend through Sunday at Reading Regional Airport.
The parade will feature historic military vehicles, World War II reenactors and music by the Snack Club Quartet.
Food will be available for sale.
Free parking for those attending is available at the 4th & Cherry Garage at 29 S. Fourth St.
Following the parade, Reading Movies 11 & IMAX will offer a special showing of “Blue Angels.” Tickets are $1 and are available online plus a service fee applies and at the theatre box office without a service fee.
The activities continue with the city’s First Friday Block Party in the 600 block of Penn Street from 5 to 9p.m.
The event features music, local businesses and community vendors, and activities for all ages, including Latin dance lessons, street soccer led by Reading High School soccer coach Gina Cardenas and a performance by Orquesta Tropikal at 6:30.
