Volunteers with Moms Demand Action of Lackawanna County honor in June the lives of those affected by gun violence and demand a future free from gun violence. Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti of Scranton delivered a Wear Orange proclamation this week at Scranton City Hall in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 5. As part of Wear Orange weekend, volunteers will host a trail cleanup and beautification project Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail Olive Street Trailhead with Lackawanna Heritage Valley. Attendees will hear remarks from local gun violence survivors and community partners. Learn more about Wear Orange at‬ wearorange.org.
