(WBRE/WYOU) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders played the Syracuse Mets Friday Night on the road at NBT Bank Stadium. The Railriders won the game 2-0 and pitched a no-hitter.
Brendan Beck and Carson Coleman combined for nine shutout innings. Beck pitched the first seven innings, which tied a career high, and struck out six batters and allowed three walks. Coleman pitched two innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
This marked the first no-hitter for the Railriders since 2021.
The Railriders scored first in the top of the second after LF Kennedy Corona grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and nobody out, which made the game 1-0. CF Duke Ellis tripled home the second run in the inning and made it 2-0.
The Railriders scored again in the fifth when Ellis hit a solo homer to left-center field and made it 3-0.
In the top of the eighth, 2B Jonathan Ornelas stepped up for his first at bat and homered to left-center field, extending the lead to 4-0.
Mets DH Jorge Polanco walked twice.
The Railriders improved to 31-29 with the win and will face the Mets tomorrow night at NBT Bank Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
