A barge was repositioned after officials said it began to drift down the Monongahela River following high winds and storms in Western Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that at 3:20 p.m., Pittsburgh River Rescue responded to the area of the Birmingham bridge on the Monongahela River after high winds caused a barge to drift ashore.River rescue temporarily closed the river to boat traffic while a towboat repositioned the barge and returned it to its intended course. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that at 3:20 p.m., Pittsburgh River Rescue responded to the area of the Birmingham bridge on the Monongahela River after high winds caused a barge to drift ashore.
