BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Community members celebrated Portuguese food, art and music in Bethlehem on Saturday.
The community came out for the 47th Annual Portuguese Heritage Day Festival outside the Portuguese American Club of Bethlehem on Brodhead Avenue.
Festival-goers ate authentic cuisine while walking under a canopy of floating umbrellas.
Others took part in traditional dancing to Portuguese songs performed live.
“So we try to do this, ’cause some of our kids, they don’t know what Portugal is,” said Joe Tavares, president, Portuguese American Club. “They were raised there, born here, so we try to bring a little bit of the culture.”
The event was put on by the Portuguese American Club and the Portuguese Heritage Day Committee.
