World War II Weekend begins at Reading Airport with an air show and historic warbirds

The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s World War II Weekend began Friday at the Reading Airport, marking its 35th annual celebration with an air show and historic displays. The event, also known as a “gathering of warbirds,” features speakers, vendors, music, aircraft displays, and an air show.Guests lined up to watch planes fly across the sky, including Placid Lassie, a historic warplane known for flying paratroopers. “It was a dark time, and people need to remember that can happen. It’s always looming out there and it’s always a risk,” said Andrew Kristopik, Jump Master Senior Instructor. The celebrations will continue throughout the weekend, with tickets available for Saturday and Sunday.
