Allentown Police responded to the intersection of North Jay Street and East North Street at approximately 10:01 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, for reports of a shooting, according to a media release issued Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found three victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Allentown Police and Allentown EMS rendered aid before all three victims were transported to area hospitals, police said.

One of the victims later died from their injuries, according to police. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as a 17-year-old Allentown boy and ruled his death a homicide. He was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m. in the Emergency Department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg after suffering gunshot injuries.  

The teen has been positively identified, but his name is not being released at this time to allow his family privacy, according to the coroner. 

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, June 8, the coroner said. 

The investigation is being conducted by the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
