Lackawanna County Commissioners Brenda Sacco and Chris Chermak appointed Clarks Summit attorney Paul J. Walker as the county’s new Solicitor, replacing Don Frederickson, Esq., who will remain on staff as general counsel.
Walker, a native of Newton Township, is the founder of Walker Law LLC in Clarks Summit. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Scranton. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 2020.
“I am truly honored to serve the County and look forward to bringing transparency and hard work into the office,” stated Walker.
The solicitor is the chief legal officer of the county government, responsible for providing legal advice to the board of commissioners, drafting ordinances and resolutions, and advising department heads on legal matters.
Walker will also serve as the solicitor for the county pension and salary boards, while Frederickson will remain as the solicitor for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Joint Board of Control, and the county election board.
“Attorney Paul Walker brings a wealth of legal experience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service that will greatly benefit our county government,” said Sacco. “His proven record of integrity and dedication will help ensure that all county operations continue to reflect transparency, accountability, and sound legal guidance. I look forward to working with him as our Solicitor and Don Fredrickson as our General Counsel, as we continue to serve the residents of Lackawanna County responsibly and effectively.”
“I would like to welcome Paul Walker as our new County Solicitor,” added Chermak. “I would also like to thank Don Frederickson for his dedicated service as Solicitor over the past two years and I am grateful for his continued role as General Counsel, where his expertise will support Paul’s transition. I am confident in Paul’s abilities and look forward to his contributions to our county.”
Walker resides in Clarks Summit with his wife, Sarah, and their three children.
