A Pennsylvania lawmaker is proposing a one-time $250 payment to help families cover the rising costs of Fourth of July celebrations. Westmoreland County State Rep. Eric Davanzo plans to introduce a bill that would provide all Pennsylvania families with the payment to offset expenses for this year’s Independence Day events. In his bill memo, Davanzo, a Republican, wrote, “Pennsylvanians are feeling the squeeze of high energy prices, leaving less money in their wallets for hot dogs, burgers, and beverages at those July 4th celebrations.” Davanzo said tax collections from last year would make the initiative possible.
