Families get a close-up looks at big machines at Erie Zoo’s Equipment Day
Kids and families got the chance to get up close with some big machines Saturday at the Erie Zoo’s annual Equipment Day.
The event brought together construction vehicles, emergency response equipment, and other heavy machinery for children to explore firsthand.

Visitors were also able to enjoy everything the zoo has to offer with the purchase of a ticket.
Officials said the day is designed to give families a unique experience while connecting with local businesses and organizations.
“For a lot of kids, this might be their only time that they get to see these type of machines. It’s a great opportunity to show them what these are and maybe help provide them with more information that they might want to find a career that works with one of these,” said Hali Hartley, lead manager of public relations, marketing and events for the Erie Zoo.
Equipment Day is one of the zoo’s most popular events, with it expected to return again next year.
