William ‘Bill’ DeCarlo

OBITUARY

William Bill DeCarlo, 73, a longtime Scranton, PA resident, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Hudson Valley Hospice House in Hyde Park, NY. Mr. DeCarlo was a custodian at St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton, PA for 49 years. Bill was a hard worker and took great pride in his job. He was known by the patients and co-workers for his kindness and great sense of humor. He will be missed by all.

Bill loved music which is evidenced by his extensive record collection. He also had an amazing memory for dates, and could recall even the day of the week for certain events in life, whether private or public.

Born on October 24, 1952 in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of the late William DeCarlo and Wanda (Chodakowski) DeCarlo.

Mr. DeCarlo is survived by his brother, James DeCarlo, and his wife, Janet, of Dover Plains, NY; a niece, Alissa DeGregorio of New Milford, CT; two great nieces, Stella and Luna DeGregorio and a great nephew, James DeGregorio.

Calling hours with be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Chester, NY.
