ALLENTOWN, Pa. — For people with disabilities, haircuts can be very overwhelming.
A family in Allentown set up an event to try and make things less stressful.
City Cuts, along with Pennsylvania Mentor hosted a Sensory Haircut event earlier on Wednesday.
The goal was to make haircuts a positive experience for everyone through patience and understanding.
Heather Updegraff, a local mother who put together the event, says her own son inspired her.
“Haircuts have been so difficult for our family, not only for us as parents but for our son. So we just kind of wanted to put this together, even if we could alleviate stress for one family, then it was worth everybody’s time,” she said.
Toys, different seating options, breaks, and much more was provided to help make the haircut calm for everyone involved.
