DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in New Jersey was taken into custody Thursday morning in Dickson City, according to police.
Members of the Dickson City Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and detectives from the Olyphant Police K-9 Unit executed an arrest warrant at a residence on Carmalt Street around 6:30 a.m.
Authorities identified the suspect as Dion Danir Johnson, who is wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Essex County, New Jersey.
Police said Johnson was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at the home as part of the ongoing homicide investigation and evidence recovery efforts.
Johnson is currently being held on a charge of arrest prior to requisition under Pennsylvania law, as well as an outstanding summary arrest warrant issued by the Dickson City Police Department.
According to police, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the validity of its warrant and notified Pennsylvania authorities that extradition proceedings will be pursued.
Dickson City police credited the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Olyphant Police for their assistance in the investigation and arrest.
