SINKING SPRING, Pa. – What’s a better time to visit one of Berks County’s biggest attractions, Shocktoberfest, than Halloween on a Friday night.
“We’ve been doing Shocktoberfest for 35 years,” says Patrick Konopelski, owner of Shocktoberfest.
Bringing tons of fright and of course some fun to Berks County.
“I think it’s important for humans to experience life,” Konopelski says.
And to feel laughter, chills and face our biggest fears.
“So we have a little bit of clowns and claustrophobia,” says Mackenzie Graybio, manager at Shocktoberfest. “What a better time to come to Shocktoberfest than Halloween on a Friday night.”
As they prepare for their last two weeks of the year, they’ll be working the rest of the year preparing for the next season.
“Making it better and different for the customer when they come out year after year,” Konopelski says.
As generations come and go, “People have grown up with us. We’ve hired three generations in one family, grandmother, the mother, the daughter,” Konopelski says.
One thing is the same, a shared love for the spooky, the mysterious, and unknown.
“I’m super into this. I come back every year,” Graybio says. “It’s really like a hobby at this point. I just love the atmosphere, I love all my friends, I love what I do. It’s so fun.”
