Barber National Institute’s pool reopens just in time for summer
A local organization was ready to dive back in and continue serving the community, hosting a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the reopening of their pool on Wednesday afternoon.
The Barber National Institute’s pool, specially constructed in the late 70’s with a movable floor to adjust to mobility needs, has been undergoing renovations for the past few years.

The improvements were designed to meet today’s infrastructure standards and provide a better experience to those using the pool— including updated equipment and a new look and feel.
“For us, the pool really represents freedom. Freedom for the kids that we serve, the adults that we serve, people with physical disabilities in the community, and so we’re really excited to have our grand re-opening, and we’re happy to be here today,” said Robert Barber, senior vice president of the Barber National Institute.
