CARBONDALE TWP., LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A Lackawanna County woman is facing assault charges after state police say she attacked troopers while they were attempting to take her into custody on an active warrant.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were dispatched to a disturbance on Canaan Street in Carbondale Township on the night of May 13.

When troopers arrived, they made contact with Hazel Giannetti, 46. Police said Giannetti admitted she had been drinking and acknowledged having an active warrant for her arrest.

State police said that while troopers were attempting to detain her, Giannetti shoved one trooper and later kicked the trooper in the chest and face as officers attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle.

Giannetti was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and faces additional charges, including aggravated assault, according to police.

She was transported to the Lackawanna County Prison to await arraignment.
