ASHLEY — A man from Northampton County was arrested when he showed up believing he was meeting a teenage girl for sex Thursday night.

Daniel Lee Lichtenwalner, 38, of Nazareth, was apprehended by troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police minutes after he arrived at a location in Ashley, according to court records.

Lichtenwalner was arraigned Friday by District Judge Rick Cronauer of Wilkes-Barre on two counts of criminal attempt to commit unlawful contact with a minor, and one count each of criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault, criminal attempt to promote prostitution, and criminal use of a communication facility. Lichtenwalner was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $75,000 bail.

Court records allege Lichtenwalner contacted someone he believed was a teenage girl on a website on Thursday. Lichtenwalner told the girl he was returning from New York, towing a motorcycle and would stop after he offered to pay money for a sex act, court records say.

Troopers arrested Lichtenwalner when he arrived at the location in Ashley.

During an interview with troopers, court records say, Lichtenwalner claimed he was “saving” the girl and only wanted to give her a ride home.
