Soccer fans across Erie came together Friday night to celebrate the start of the World Cup and cheer on the United States National Team as they faced Paraguay.
One of the largest local watch parties was held at Oliver’s Beer Garden, where supporters packed the venue to watch the match and rally behind Team USA. Fans erupted with cheers throughout the night as the Americans scored three unanswered goals and took control of the game.
The event also featured appearances from soccer players, including Erie native and Kansas City Current defender Katie Scott.
The excitement continued until the final whistle, as Team USA secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Paraguay to open its World Cup campaign on a winning note.
