A motorcyclist and the rider of an electric bike died Friday night in a crash in Bethlehem’s South Side.

The crash, which involved two motorcycles and the electric bike, happened about 7 p.m. at the intersection of Daly Avenue and the Minsi Trail Bridge, according to city police Chief Michelle Kott.

The rider of the electric bike, a 46-year-old Bethlehem man, was riding south in the marked crosswalk when he was hit by a motorcycle that was traveling east on Daly Avenue, Kott said. The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old from Quakertown, was riding in the right lane when he hit the electric bike.

The collision caused the motorcycle to move to the left and hit another motorcycle next to him. Both motorcyclists were thrown from their bikes, the chief said.

The rider of the electric bike and the motorcyclist that hit him both died from their injuries, she said. The rider of the other motorcycle, a 25-year-old from Bethlehem, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call police at 610-997-7666.
