EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Board of School Directors voted 5-1 Tuesday night to adopt a final $92 million budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The budget requires a 3.5% hike in property taxes beginning July 1.
Property owners in the district currently pay a tax rate of 37.0024 mills.
With a 3.5% increase, the taxes will rise to 38.2975 mills, meaning a property assessed at $100,000 would have an annual tax bill of $3,830.
The tax increase was needed to close a budget gap to submit a balanced budget to the state by June 30.
Board member John T. Fidler voted against the budget, and board members Ann M. Hearing, Andrea Battler and Anne-Marie Yocum-Grill were absent.
The board also approved a resolution to continue collecting a per capita tax of $5 from every resident in the district.
In other business, the board voted to elect Christy M. Haller as district superintendent for a new five-year commission from July 1 through June 30, 2031, and enter a contract to set salary and benefits.
Haller was hired as superintendent in 2022 with a four-year contract, which is expiring the end of this month.
The salary for the new contract was not immediately available.
Haller said she is grateful for the opportunity and the privilege to continuing leading the district as superintendent.
The board also approved transferring Kaitlin Spangler from the position of assistant principal at the Reiffton School to special education supervisor at a salary of $105,000.
