SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With tens of thousands pouring into Scranton to witness history, the impact is already being felt downtown. Shops like Friendly Alien Books are packed with visitors browsing books, puzzles, and vintage finds.
A new partnership with Old and Brew Coffee in Peckville is helping spread the crowds and the business across the region to benefit both local shops.

“I knew it was a big deal; I knew a lot of people were excited about it. So, on one hand, I’m like, ‘it makes sense that so many people are here,’ but I think there’s always that element of shock, like, ‘Oh no, this is a lot of people coming downtown,” Friendly Alien Bookstore Owner Brigid Lawrence said.
Friendly Alien Books is open for the rest of the week.
