The National Weather Service has confirmed a fifth tornado touched down in northwestern Pennsylvania during the severe storms that swept through the region on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado touched down southwest of the Titusville Airport in Venango County. Survey crews found damage consistent with a tornado, including several large trees that were downed along its path.
Areas surrounding the tornado experienced additional damage from powerful straight-line winds associated with the storm system.
The newly confirmed tornado adds to a growing list of tornadoes identified across northwestern Pennsylvania following Sunday’s severe weather outbreak. The storms brought widespread wind damage, downed trees, power outages, and road closures throughout the region.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the Venango County tornado.
The National Weather Service continues to assess storm damage from Sunday’s weather event and has been conducting surveys across affected communities to determine the extent of tornado activity and wind damage.
Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware as the region enters the peak of the summer severe weather season.
