Two people were injured in a pair of unrelated shootings that happened within a period of about 30 minutes Monday night in Philadelphia.
Authorities said a 35-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition after she was shot in the chest at around 11:15 p.m. in the area of 12th Street and Fairmount Avenue in North Philadelphia.
Investigators believe a large fight was happening on the 600 block of N. 12th Street when someone threw a rock through the front window of a house. Someone inside came to the entrance and opened fire; then, a man in a red hooded sweatshirt ran to the door and fired into the home, law enforcement officials added.
Later, a man was spotted leaving the property and throwing something into a nearby storm drain, according to the PPD. No arrests have been reported.
Less than a half an hour earlier, just after 10:45 p.m., officers were called to the 5900 block of Jackson Street in Wissinoming, where a 28-year-old man told them he had shot another man, authorities said.
A witness took the gunshot victim, a 31-year-old man, to a nearby fire station, and he was then transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, the PPD said. He was listed in stable condition with a wound to his leg.
Detectives think the violence stemmed from a dispute over a parking spot. Law enforcement searched the shooter’s apartment and found a black handgun.
The PPD said the suspect was taken into custody. Criminal charges are pending, and authorities have not publicly identified him.

Through June 15, 286 people had been shot in Philadelphia, down nearly 36% compared to the same date last year, according to PPD data.
