Golfers will hit the green Thursday as the Barber National Institute hosts its annual Shillelagh Golf Tournament at Whispering Woods Golf Course in Erie.
The event will take place June 18 at Whispering Woods Golf Course, located at 7214 Grubb Road. Participants will tee off during two sessions scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Shillelagh Golf Tournament has become a longstanding Erie tradition, bringing together community members and supporters to raise funds for the mission of Barber National Institute and the services it provides throughout the region.
New to this year’s tournament is an “air-cannon” attraction that will give golfers the opportunity to launch their ball more than 400 yards down the fairway, adding a unique twist to the competition.
The day will conclude with a dinner at 6 p.m., during which the organization will recognize its Person of the Year.
Organizers say the event will provide opportunities for photographs, video, and interviews. A complete press release with additional details will be available during the tournament.
The annual event serves as one of Barber National Institute’s signature fundraisers, helping support programs and services for individuals and families throughout the community.
