BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Northampton County seniors are raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.

Residents of the Birches of Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem Township took a walk around the grounds on Friday with their families and caregivers.

A presentation on Alzheimer’s and dementia was also given.

The event honored the strength of those living with Alzheimer’s.

One woman says she’s lost relatives to the disease, but remains hopeful.

“It’s very close to my heart. I want to see an end to this, a cure. There is no cure right now, but they’ve been making great strides,” said Pam Haas, a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Friday’s walk was a mini-version of a bigger walk planned for September.

That one will be a fundraiser at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem.
