Juneteenth celebrations across Lehigh Valley honor the history and significance of the observance | Allentown Area

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. — Friday is Juneteenth, and celebrations are taking place across our region.

In Allentown, a flag-raising ceremony was held in front of City Hall.

Officials, including Mayor Matt Tuerk, spoke.

And in Easton, there was a celebration for the kids, including educational presentations, games, crafts, and music.

Juneteenth is observed every year on June 19th to celebrate the effective end of slavery in the U.S.
